Beach Slang is an American punk rock band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2013 by lead vocalist and guitarist James Alex. Known for their energized, emotive sound that blends the rawness of punk with the melodicism of pop, Beach Slang quickly garnered attention within the indie music scene with their earnest lyrics and raucous live shows. They burst onto the scene with their debut EP, "Who Would Ever Want Anything So Broken?" in 2014, followed closely by a second EP, "Cheap Thrills On A Dead End Street," which further solidified their presence with gritty anthems and a nostalgic nod to the rock of the past.
Their full-throttle momentum propelled them to release their acclaimed first album, "The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us," in 2015, which dived headlong into the turmoils and triumphs of youth, capturing the heartstrings of a growing fanbase. Beach Slang cemented their reputation with their sophomore LP, "A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings" in 2016, a continued exploration of adolescence and young adulthood that resonated with the authenticity of garage rock ethos. Despite internal challenges and lineup changes, Beach Slang persisted, delivering the candid and rough-edged "The Deadbeat Bang Of Heartbreak City" in 2020. The same year, they also released a whimsically titled Christmas track, "Fa La Blah Blah Blah," showing their versatility and willingness to inject humor into their signature sound. With a discography that's as unapologetically brash as it is heartfelt, Beach Slang has etched a permanent mark in the modern punk landscape.
