Woods of Birnam is a five-piece band from Germany, founded in 2011. The band's name is inspired by William Shakespeare's play "Macbeth," signaling their connection to theatrical themes. Led by actor and musician Christian Friedel, Woods of Birnam has evolved from an indie pop band to one that also creates music for theater and film. Their music combines different genres, creating a unique sound. In 2016, they competed in the German national final for Eurovision with the song "Lift Me Up (from the Underground)".
The band has released several works, including their self-titled debut album in 2014. Recent releases include "I'll Call Thee Hamlet (Charity Remix)," "Dorian," "Macbeth," among others, showcasing their ongoing connection to literary themes and diverse musical styles.
