Witold Rowicki was a Polish conductor who is best known for his work with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, which he led for over 20 years. He was also a guest conductor with many other major orchestras around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Rowicki was a champion of Polish music, and he premiered many works by Polish composers, including Krzysztof Penderecki and Witold Lutosławski. He was also a noted interpreter of the works of Romantic composers such as Tchaikovsky and Brahms.
