William Warfield

William Warfield was an American bass-baritone who enjoyed a successful career in opera, Broadway, and film. He is best known for his portrayal of Porgy in the original 1935 production of George Gershwin's opera Porgy and Bess, a role he reprised in the 1959 film adaptation. Warfield also had a successful career as a concert singer, performing with major orchestras around the world. He was known for his powerful voice and his ability to convey a wide range of emotions through his singing.
