He began studying piano in 1986 and lived in Milan from 1982 to 2005 before relocating to Lisbon, where he currently works. Known for his focus on experimental and electroacoustic music, Wanke’s compositions often revolve around detailed loops, intricate textures, and a deep attention to time and resonance. His 2008 debut album "Caves," released by Sedimental (USA), was highly praised and recognized as one of the best debuts of the year by *The Wire* magazine.
