Mt Number One is a Burundian artist who has made a name for himself in the Afropop scene. Born in Rwanda, he tragically lost both his parents during the genocide. After a period of displacement, including time in a Tanzanian refugee camp and studies in the US, he eventually settled in Burundi to pursue his music career.
Despite the hardships he faced early in life, Mt Number One is known for creating uplifting, danceable music that often showcases scenes from Burundian rural and urban life in his videos. His catchy tunes, which blend local vocal traditions with contemporary beats, have gained him popularity not only in Burundi but also among international audiences.
