Edicson Ruiz

Edicson Ruiz is a renowned double bassist from Venezuela, known for his extraordinary talent and for being one of the youngest musicians ever to join the Berlin Philharmonic. Born in Caracas, he was a standout student of Venezuela’s celebrated El Sistema music program. By the age of 17, he had secured a spot in one of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, making headlines in the classical music world.

Ruiz is celebrated for his technical brilliance and for expanding the double bass repertoire through both his solo performances and collaborations. He has a particular focus on contemporary pieces, as well as reviving lesser-known classical works for the instrument. His recordings, such as Concertos for Double Bass from Vienna and New Music for Double Bass and Oboe, showcase his commitment to both tradition and innovation within the classical genre.
