DJ NOTOYA

DJ Notoya is a Tokyo-based DJ, curator, and record collector celebrated for his deep knowledge and passion for Japanese city pop, funk, boogie, and soul from the 1970s and 1980s. Starting his journey around 2007, he has become one of the pioneers of the Japanese "Wamono" groove scene, gaining international recognition with his 2011 mix *Tokyo 1980s*. His work, including the highly acclaimed *Tokyo 1980s Victor Edition* compilation, which dives into Victor Entertainment's rich catalog, has played a big role in promoting rare Japanese grooves worldwide, amassing millions of streams and introducing many classic tracks to new audiences.

Beyond curating influential mixes and compilations, DJ Notoya founded the Tokyo Condition reissue project to bring rare and analog Japanese music back into circulation. He has also performed internationally, notably showcasing Japanese funk and city pop sounds in places like Beijing. His releases often include meticulous remastering and packaging featuring legendary Japanese artwork, making them prized collections for fans of Japanese groovy genres. DJ Notoya continues to share his deep crate-digging discoveries through digital platforms and vinyl, further fueling the global appreciation for vintage Japanese funk and soul.
