Elsie Bianchi Trio was a Swiss jazz ensemble led by singer and pianist Elsie Bianchi. Born on November 5, 1930, in Zurich, Switzerland, Elsie Bianchi was one of Europe's top jazz singers from the early 1950s through the 1960s. The trio, which included her husband Siro Bianchi on bass, gained fame through appearances at the Zurich Jazz Festival in the early 1950s. They toured the United States in 1958-59, playing at renowned venues like the Lighthouse jazz club near Los Angeles.
Known for her sensuous voice and hip phrasing reminiscent of Anita O'Day, Elsie Bianchi led the trio in recording several albums, including "The Sweetest Sound" and "Atlantis Blues". After splitting their time between Europe and America, the Bianchis eventually settled permanently in the United States. Elsie ended her professional music career in 1978 to join her brothers in managing the K-Swiss sportshoe factory. She passed away on July 17, 2016, in the USA.
