Rockers Hi-Fi

Rockers Hi-Fi were a pioneering electronic duo from Birmingham, UK, known for their eclectic blend of dub, reggae, trip-hop, and electronic beats. Formed by Richard "DJ Dick" Whittingham and Glyn "Bigga" Bush in the early 1990s, the group originally started out as Overproof Sound System before adopting the Rockers Hi-Fi name. They gained underground acclaim for their deep, atmospheric grooves and bass-heavy soundscapes, which fused classic Jamaican dub influences with futuristic electronic production.

Their music was a staple in chillout and downtempo scenes during the '90s, often featured on mix compilations like the legendary Kruder & Dorfmeister's "K&D Sessions." Tracks like "Push Push" and "Going Under" showcased their knack for rich textures and spaced-out vibes, while albums like "Rockers to Rockers" and "Overproof" helped cement their reputation as forward-thinking producers. Alongside their own music, Rockers Hi-Fi also ran the Different Drummer label, pushing the sounds of dub-influenced electronica to a wider audience.
