Ars Longa De La Habana

**Ars Longa de La Habana** is a Cuban early music ensemble dedicated to reviving the rich Baroque and colonial-era sounds of Latin America and Spain. Founded in 1994 by husband-and-wife duo Teresa Paz (soprano) and Aland López (instrumentalist/director), the group takes its name from the Latin proverb *“Ars longa, vita brevis”* (Art is long, life is short). Based in Havana, they specialize in meticulously researched performances of historical works, often collaborating with Cuba’s Office of the City Historian to preserve and celebrate the island’s musical heritage.

Their recent releases, like *Salas: Nativité à Santiago de Cuba* and *Música De La Catedral De Puebla De Los Ángeles*, spotlight their focus on 17th- and 18th-century composers, including Esteban Salas (Cuba’s first documented classical composer) and forgotten pieces from Mexican and Cuban cathedrals. With period instruments and vibrant vocal arrangements, Ars Longa bridges centuries-old scores with modern curiosity, offering listeners a time capsule of Latin America’s colonial soundscape.
