Bad Balance

Bad Balance is a legendary Russian hip-hop crew that’s been shaping the country’s rap scene since the late 1980s. Founded in Moscow by LA (Alexey "LA" Balabanov) and Sheff (Vlad Valov), they’re often called the "godfathers of Russian hip-hop" for bringing the genre to post-Soviet youth culture. Their early gritty, socially conscious tracks blended boom-bap beats with Russian street slang, and their 1994 album *Выше закона* (*Above the Law*) became a blueprint for Eastern European rap. Over decades, they’ve evolved from raw underground beats to polished club bangers like *Бомба танцпола* (*Dancefloor Bomb*), while staying loyal to remix culture with their *Art of the Remix* series. Still active today, Bad Balance mixes nostalgia with modern sounds, proving why they’re icons in Russia’s ever-changing music landscape.
