Rip Van Winkle

Rip Van Winkle is a music project led by Robert Pollard, best known as the prolific frontman of Guided By Voices. This band features Pollard alongside members of the group Joseph Airport—Ben Penry on guitar, Joe Patterson on bass, and Jason Short on drums. Rip Van Winkle’s sound blends garage punk with a variety of experimental touches, showcasing Pollard’s signature style of catchy, eclectic rock infused with diverse instrumentation like kalimba, glockenspiel, and euphonium.

Their recent works include the debut album *Blasphemy*, released in July 2025, which continues Pollard’s tradition of creative songwriting with tracks like "Shit-heel Man" and "By the Water." Prior to this, they put out *The Grand Rapids EP* in 2024, which features a mix of post-punk and psych-rock influences. Rip Van Winkle represents Pollard’s exploratory side project that complements his extensive catalog while offering a fresh, distinct sound for fans to enjoy.
