Vladimir Golschmann was a Swiss-born American conductor who made his mark on the music world in the 20th century. Born in Zurich in 1893, Golschmann studied music in Europe before making his conducting debut in 1912. He went on to lead orchestras around the world, including the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the NBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Golschmann was known for his passionate and energetic performances, and he was particularly admired for his interpretations of Romantic and 20th-century music. He also made numerous recordings, many of which are still highly regarded today. Golschmann died in New York City in 1972.
