Nicole Murphy is an acclaimed Australian composer known for her work in chamber and orchestral music. She is based in Brisbane and teaches composition at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Nicole holds a PhD in composition from the University of Queensland and earned her Master of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2011. Over her career, she has received numerous awards including the Theodore Front International Orchestral Prize and the Alan Lane Award for Composition. Nicole's music has been commissioned by esteemed organizations like the Australian Ballet and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and performed internationally at festivals such as the Asian Contemporary Music Festival in Tel Aviv. She is recognized for her innovative and expressive compositions and is published by Wirripang.
Her recent works reflect a continued engagement with contemporary music practices, supported by commissions from organizations such as the Australian Music Centre and the Australian National Academy of Music. Nicole is also active as a composer-in-residence and continues to contribute to the Australian contemporary music scene both as a creator and educator.
