Martin Korthuis

**Martin Korthuis** is a Dutch singer-songwriter originally from Schiermonnikoog, a northern Dutch island, later becoming a prominent figure in Groningen’s music scene. Starting his career as a vocalist in the band *The Lazy Bones* alongside Lex Koopman, he later co-founded the rock group *Blue Monday* in the 1980s and the Neil Young-inspired *Harvest*. His shift to singing in the Groningen dialect began in 1998 with *Vrij zunder schuld*, blending English and regional lyrics before focusing entirely on Groningstalige liedjes (Groningen-language songs). Since then, he’s released multiple albums in the dialect, including recent works like *Nij*, *Geluk*, and *Aailaand*. In 2023, he formed a trio with musicians Eddo Pol and Syp Wip, combining their eclectic backgrounds into a collaborative project.
