108

108 is an influential band steeped in the ethos of the hardcore punk and Krishna Consciousness movements. Formed in 1991, the band's name is a reference to the number of beads on a japa mala, used in Hindu prayer and meditation. They have been known for their intense musical style that fuses the raw energy and ethos of hardcore punk with spiritual and philosophical themes. Originally featuring members Vic DiCara (formerly of Inside Out), Rob Fish, Trivikrama das, and others throughout the years, 108 stood apart in the hardcore scene with their unique blend of spirituality and sonic aggression.

After their initial run in the 1990s, 108 disbanded but resurfaced in the mid-2000s to produce some of their most compelling work. Their later albums like "18.61," released in 2010, "A New Beat from a Dead Heart" in 2007, and "Creation. Sustenance. Destruction." in 2006, saw them return with a fervor that matched or even exceeded their early intensity. "Songs of Separation," their seminal 1994 debut, remains an influential cornerstone of the genre that embeds itself in the consciousness of hardcore enthusiasts. Throughout their career, 108 established a legacy of pushing boundaries both musically and philosophically, leaving an indelible imprint on the hardcore scene.
