Orchestr Gustava Broma

Orchestr Gustava Broma (The Gustav Brom Orchestra) was one of the most respected big bands in Central Europe, particularly prominent in the post-war jazz and swing scenes. Founded by Czech bandleader Gustav Brom in the 1940s, the ensemble became famous for its dynamic arrangements, tight musicianship, and collaborations with top-tier vocalists and soloists across Europe. Over the decades, the orchestra blended classic big band jazz with a uniquely Eastern European flavor, making them an enduring presence on the jazz stage.

Under Brom's direction, the orchestra toured extensively and often worked with both local and international jazz stars. Their discography spans decades and showcases their versatility—from classic swing tunes to more modern interpretations. Even after Gustav Brom's passing in 1995, the orchestra has continued to perform and honor his legacy, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of Czechoslovak, and later Czech and Slovak, jazz history.
