Dmitry Vasiliev

Dmitry Vasiliev is a renowned conductor known for his dynamic and versatile leadership. Born in 1972 in Bolshoi Kamen, Russia, he graduated from the Rostov State Conservatory and later pursued post-graduate studies under Prof. Alexander Skulsky in Nizhny Novgorod. Vasiliev's career took off in 1997 when he became the founding artistic director of the Tambov Symphony Orchestra. He has since conducted over 800 concerts and has worked with numerous leading orchestras in Russia and abroad, including Italy, France, Korea, China, and Poland. As the artistic director and chief conductor of the Siberian Symphony Orchestra since 2005, Vasiliev has championed new music, particularly by Russian composers, and has premiered works by notable figures like Sofia Gubaidulina and Mikhail Bronner.

Vasiliev's recent releases include a variety of orchestral music volumes, such as works by Elcock, Alexander Tchaikovsky, Steve Elcock, Shebalin, Bittner, and Spratley. His contributions to the music world are marked by his ability to emotionally engage both musicians and audiences, as noted by Maxim Shostakovich. Vasiliev has also been involved in several international festivals and competitions, showcasing his dedication to promoting diverse musical talents. His awards include the XVI Grand Prix International de l'Accordeon Award and a Diploma from the IV International Prokofiev Competition.
