Abigail Chams

Abigail Chams, known professionally as Abby Chams, is a talented Tanzanian multi-instrumentalist, social activist, and singer. Born in the Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania, she comes from a musical family where her grandfather was a music director of an orchestra and her grandmother sang in the church choir. Abby began learning piano at five and mastered the violin by eight; she also plays the guitar, drums, and flute. Her music career took off when she started posting music covers on social media, eventually collaborating with prominent artists like Rayvanny, Harmonize, and Jekalyn Carr. In 2022, she was signed to Sony Music Africa, marking a significant milestone in her career. Abby Chams is also recognized for her social activism, having been named a youth advocate by UNICEF for mental health and gender equality.

Abby Chams' music style blends contemporary sounds with traditional African rhythms, often categorized under Bongo Flava and Afrobeat genres. Her recent releases include tracks like "Nani?" featuring Marioo, "Milele," and her debut EP titled "5," which was released in September 2023. The EP features collaborations with Marioo, Rayvanny, Whozu, and Chino Kid. Abby's music is celebrated for its international standards and her ability to play multiple instruments, making her a rising star in the African music scene.
