CJ Ramone is best known as the bassist for legendary punk rock band the Ramones, joining the group in 1989 and remaining until their retirement in 1996. Born Christopher Joseph Ward, he stepped into the massive shoes of Dee Dee Ramone and quickly earned respect for his energetic stage presence and authentic punk spirit. Even after the band’s final bow, CJ kept the Ramones’ flame alive through a solo career that blends melodic punk with heartfelt lyrics and a dash of classic rock ‘n’ roll attitude.
As a solo artist, CJ Ramone has released several well-received albums including Reconquista (2012), Last Chance to Dance (2014), American Beauty (2017), and The Holy Spell… (2019). His music stays true to the straightforward, three-chord roots of punk, while also showcasing his evolution as a songwriter. Whether he’s covering Ramones classics or deliverings new anthems of his own, CJ continues to connect with fans old and new as a torchbearer for the spirit of punk.
