Michael Burton

Michael Burton is a soulful saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, where he was immersed in music from an early age—his mother was part of the legendary Mississippi Mass Choir and his father a tenor saxophonist. He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in Jazz Studies from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he studied under the renowned David Baker. Burton has carved out an impressive career touring with major artists like Usher, Patti LaBelle, Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Anita Baker, and New Edition. Beyond touring, he has been a key member of house bands on BET shows including The Mo’Nique Show and Sunday Best, and has played keys and saxophone for many Tyler Perry stage and film productions. His saxophone work has also appeared on TV shows and movies such as HBO's "Bessie" and NatGeo’s "Genius Aretha" .

Burton is not only a performer but also a producer and writer, having released three independent projects including "Sojourn" and "Soulful." His collaborations span a wide range of genres and artists, from gospel and jazz to hip-hop and R&B, contributing to works by artists like PJ Morton, Marcus Johnson, Kelly Rowland, and Grammy-nominated Calvin Richardson. He is known for his distinctive soulful saxophone performances and riveting grooves rooted in his deep cultural background and musical training. Currently based in the Atlanta area, Michael Burton continues to tour, record, and contribute richly to the music scene with his dynamic artistry .
