3rd Line Butterfly

3rd Line Butterfly is a South Korean indie rock band known for its distinctive blend of music that resonates with the underground scene while simultaneously capturing mainstream appeal. Formed in Seoul in 1999, the group consists of vocalist and guitarist Sangmyun Nam, guitarist Sungkwan Sung, bassist Jaeyoung Jung, and drummer Seung-hyun Hyun. Their atmospheric and often ethereal sound is characterized by thought-provoking lyrics and an experimental edge, which has set them apart in the Korean music landscape. Over the years, the band has garnered a loyal following due to their introspective songwriting and their ability to traverse genres, incorporating elements of rock, electronica, and avant-garde music.

3rd Line Butterfly has established a consistent presence in the Korean indie scene since the release of their debut album "Adrift" in 2000. Their discography has been marked by a series of critically acclaimed albums, including "Nine Days or a Million" (2008), which showed the band's evolving sound and won the Korean Music Award for Best Modern Rock Album. Among their recent releases are "Divided By Zero" and "나를 깨우네 Awaken," which continue to showcase 3rd Line Butterfly's artistic depth and commitment to innovation. The band has also revisited and remastered some of their earlier work, as evidenced by the re-released versions of songs from their "Self-Titled Obsession" album. Their music, often rich in texture and emotion, solidifies their status as leading lights in South Korea's vibrant music scene.
