Nelson Eddy was an American baritone and actor who starred in a series of popular musical films with Jeanette MacDonald in the 1930s and 1940s. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1901 and studied singing at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Eddy made his Broadway debut in 1922 and his film debut in 1933. He starred in over 20 films, including "Naughty Marietta" (1935), "Rose-Marie" (1936), and "Maytime" (1937). Eddy was also a successful concert singer and toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He died in Miami, Florida, in 1967.
