Nublu Orchestra

Nublu Orchestra is a unique collective of musicians centered around the Nublu club in New York's Lower East Side. Their sound blends free jazz, techno, and electronic beats, reflecting the diverse and experimental vibe of the Nublu scene. The orchestra was conducted by the late Butch Morris, a pioneering free jazz cornet player and the inventor of "Conduction®," a method of directed improvisation that unites musicians from vastly different backgrounds, styles, and cultures. The group includes members from various associated bands such as Brazilian Girls, Wax Poetic, and Forro in the Dark, along with guest musicians like Graham Haynes and Eddie Henderson, creating a constellation of rich, cross-genre collaborations.

Butch Morris's approach allowed the Nublu Orchestra to thrive on spontaneous creativity and interplay, where no two performances were alike. This spirit is captured in their numerous live recordings from around the world, including shows in Paris, Rome, Sao Paulo, Lisbon, and New York, showcasing the global reach and eclectic energy of the ensemble.
