Vengeance Rising

Vengeance Rising is a seminal band within the Christian thrash metal scene, best known for their aggressive sound and unflinching lyrical exploration of Christian themes. Formed in 1987 in Los Angeles by singer Roger Martinez, guitarists Larry Farkas and Doug Thieme, bassist Roger Dale Martin, and drummer Glenn Mancaruso, the band quickly made a name for themselves with their raw energy and powerful message. Their groundbreaking debut album, "Human Sacrifice," released in 1988, is often cited as one of the first Christian death metal albums, marking a significant moment in the genre's history.

Throughout their career, Vengeance Rising was renowned for their provocative approach to metal and ministry, blending a rigorous evangelical message with the ferocity of thrash metal. The band's follow-up albums, "Once Dead" (1990) and "Destruction Comes" (1991), continued to push boundaries both musically and thematically, cementing their reputation in the metal community. After the release of "Released Upon the Earth" in 1992, internal tensions and Martinez's eventual departure from Christian faith led to the disbandment of the original lineup. The remastered editions of their classic albums have reignited interest in Vengeance Rising's legacy, reminding listeners of the band's influential role in the development of Christian metal and their status as pioneers who paved the way for many bands to follow.
