Deadbird

Deadbird is a sludge/doom metal band with a touch of southern grit and psychedelic infusion, emerging from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Formed in 2002 by Alan Short (guitar and vocals) and Chuck Schaaf (guitar and vocals), the band also includes Reid Raley on bass, who later joined North Little Rock sludge lords Rwake. Deadbird quickly established its presence with raw, emotive energy and a distinctive sound that weaves melancholic melodies with heavyweight riffs.

Their critically acclaimed release, "Twilight Ritual" in 2008, showcased Deadbird's ability to blend thunderous riffs with haunting ambiance, solidifying their unique niche in the metal community. After a period of inactivity, the band made a powerful return with "III: The Forest Within the Tree" in 2018, an album that delves deep into personal themes against the backdrop of their signature pulverizing sludge landscape. Throughout their career, Deadbird has continued to evolve while maintaining their resonant core, captivating fans with their dynamic range and emotional depth. Their releases, including the collaborative effort "Deadbird / Burned Up Bled Dry - Split," and singles "Alexandria" and "Luciferous Heart," solidify their legacy in the heavy music scene, with each work adding to a potent discography that resonates with fans of the genre seeking substance and intensity.
