Latvian National Opera Orchestra

The **Latvian National Opera Orchestra** is a renowned ensemble based in Riga, Latvia. Comprising over 100 musicians, the orchestra is highly acclaimed for its diverse repertoire, which spans more than 50 operas and ballets, ranging from Baroque to contemporary works. Many of its members are celebrated as soloists or chamber musicians, and they participate in numerous international competitions. The orchestra performs approximately 250 times annually, including symphonic and operatic concerts. Since 2013, Mārtiņš Ozoliņš has served as the Chief Conductor of the Latvian National Opera, leading the orchestra in performances that showcase its deep understanding of various musical styles, including notable works by Richard Wagner.

The orchestra has collaborated with esteemed conductors such as Andris Nelsons, who held the position of Chief Conductor from 2003 to 2007. It has also performed alongside world-class opera and ballet soloists, and has toured extensively. The Latvian National Opera Orchestra is an integral part of the Latvian National Opera, which includes the Latvian National Ballet and the LNO Chorus. The opera house itself has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1912, with significant contributions to Latvia's cultural landscape.
