xRISALEx

xRISALEx is a Vegan Straight Edge hardcore band from Turkey, born out of the country's socio-political turmoil. Initially started as a one-man project by Ozan, the band evolved into a full-fledged group with the addition of friends İrem and Arda, all of whom share vegan and straight edge values. Their music is characterized by a mix of crusty, metallic, and '90s-inspired hardcore, with a strong focus on political and social issues. Their debut EP, *As The Foundations Burn…*, showcases this intense sound, featuring tracks like "Weaning Off" and "Sacrifice / Sacrilege," which highlight their urgent political voice and commitment to activism.

Musically, xRISALEx draws inspiration from bands like His Hero Is Gone, Refused, and Converge, while their lyrics reflect personal experiences and social struggles in Turkey. The band's DIY ethos is both a necessity due to economic challenges and a reflection of their political ideals. Despite the pandemic limiting live performances, xRISALEx aims to spark conversations and bring political awareness to the Turkish hardcore scene, which they feel is often apolitical. Their music serves as a platform for expressing sentiments on animal liberation, LGBTQIA+ rights, and minority struggles, hoping to inspire action among listeners.
