Rubber City Rebels

Rubber City Rebels are a punk rock band that emerged from Akron, Ohio, in the mid-1970s. Known for their gritty, high-energy sound and rebellious attitude, they were part of a wave of Midwest punk that got national attention alongside acts like Devo and the Dead Boys. The band built a loyal following with raw, guitar-driven anthems and a hard-edged style that blended punk with glam and garage rock influences.

After moving to Los Angeles in the late '70s, Rubber City Rebels played iconic venues like the Whisky a Go Go and helped bring Midwest punk energy to the West Coast scene. Their self-titled 1980 album became a cult favorite, and despite lineup changes over the years, the Rebels never lost their edge. Releases like The Hollywood Years and Pierce My Brain show the band’s staying power and commitment to loud, raucous rock ’n’ roll.
