Peace Flag Ensemble is a Brooklyn-based experimental collective that's been turning heads since their formation in 2016, blending jazz spontaneity, ambient textures, and electronic experimentation into a genre-soup that feels both futuristic and nostalgic. Led by drummer Jeremy Gustin (known for work with Delicate Steve and Rubblebucket) and featuring a rotating cast of collaborators, their releases like "Astral Plains" and "Burner Phone" showcase a knack for transforming live improvisations into meticulously crafted soundscapes that bounce between cosmic jazz odysseys and glitchy beat collages. Their NNA Tapes releases and delightfully weird album titles ("You Can't Pin Joy Like A Moth" being a standout) reflect their playful approach to music-making, where found sounds and synth squiggles coexist with tight grooves – think of it as a laboratory where Madlib, Tortoise, and Brian Eno might trade ideas over herbal tea.
