Maral is a Los Angeles-based electronic music producer and DJ renowned for blending traditional Iranian folk and classical music with contemporary club sounds in a style she calls "folk club." Drawing on rich Persian vocal samples and the classical Mahur modal system, Maral creates a unique soundscape that marries nostalgic cultural elements with modern electronic textures and drum machine rhythms. Her 2019 cassette album *Mahur Club* exemplifies this approach, featuring a dynamic interplay of bitcrushed melodies and layered folk vocals, reflecting the somber yet enduring stories of Iranian people through a fresh, urgent lens. Maral’s music also incorporates influences from art-pop and punk, showcasing her broad and adventurous taste. Beyond producing original music, she has been active in the LA music scene as a DJ and event organizer, championing diverse musical styles and supporting women and gender nonconforming artists through curated mix series.

Before focusing on her solo electronic projects, Maral was part of several bands where she contributed as a vocalist, songwriter, and bass player. She also has held a DJ residency on internet radio and worked in A&R for notable labels, which informed her critical perspective on the music industry.
