Minta & The Brook Trout is a Lisboa-based indie folk band led by Francisca Cortesão, known as Minta, who writes poetic and intimate songs about everyday life, from breakups to simple moments. Their sound blends folk-inspired indie pop with graceful arrangements, often featuring soothing harmonies and a warm, mesmerising quality. The band includes Mariana Ricardo (bass, vocals, ukulele) and other talented musicians such as Tomás Sousa and Afonso Cabral, both involved in the Lisbon music scene.
Starting as Minta’s solo project in 2006, the group expanded by 2009 with the release of their self-titled debut album. They have since put out several albums including fan favorite *Olympia* (2012), *Slow* (2016), and the more eclectic *Demolition Derby* (2021). Their latest work includes singles like "Cantaloupe" as a preview of their upcoming fifth album *Stretch*, due out in 2025. The band is known for crafting short, poetic songs that feel personal and good for company, with a steady evolution in their sound and members tied closely to Lisbon’s indie music community.
