Conjunto Maria Albertina

Conjunto Maria Albertina is a renowned Portuguese music group founded in 1959 by António Rodrigues and his daughter, Maria Albertina, who was just 13 years old at the time and played the accordion. The group is known for blending traditional Portuguese folk music with lively performances, often highlighted by their appearance at numerous festivals and community events both in Portugal and abroad, particularly among Portuguese emigrant communities. Their most famous song, "O Emigrante," which was composed during a two-month tour in the United States in 1965, became a huge hit and earned one of Portugal's earliest gold disks in 1977.

Throughout their career, Conjunto Maria Albertina has enjoyed significant success, including their debut hit "Avé Maria do Coração." They participated in the RTP Song Festival in 1977 with the song "A flor e o fruto." After a period of inactivity, the group reunited in 2002, releasing the album "Conjunto Maria Albertina – 20 anos depois." Their legacy continues to be celebrated with compilations like "ANTOLOGIA 1964/1977," released by Movieplay in 2007. Recent releases, such as "Amor de Mãe," "Portugal," and "Portugal Emigrante," reflect their ongoing contribution to Portuguese music heritage.
