Rebel MC became known for fusing socially conscious lyrics with hard-hitting beats, carving out a space that bridged Caribbean sound system culture with the emerging rave scene.

In the 1990s, he transitioned into the jungle scene under the alias Congo Natty, where he became a key figure in pushing forward the genre’s blend of reggae roots and frenetic breakbeats.
