Mikhail Pochekin is a Russian violinist born in 1990 into a deeply musical family—his father is a violin maker, his mother a violin teacher, and his older brother Ivan is also a talented violinist and violist, with whom Mikhail often performs in duo settings. Growing up surrounded by music, Mikhail started violin lessons at age five and went on to study with some of the great pedagogues, including Ana Chumachenco, Viktor Tretiakov, Rainer Schmidt, and Christian Tetzlaff, refining a style that blends technical brilliance with expressive warmth. His early talent was recognized with top prizes at international competitions, most notably the Pablo Sarasate National Prize in Spain in 2008, which led to a special performance on the legendary “Ex Boissier” Stradivarius, once owned by Sarasate himself.
Now based in Europe, Mikhail has built an impressive international career, appearing as a soloist with major orchestras like the Mariinsky Theater Symphony, Russian National Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and others across Europe and Russia. He’s a regular at prestigious venues and festivals, from the Gasteig in Munich to Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional and Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Hall. Alongside his performing career, Mikhail is passionate about education, giving masterclasses worldwide and serving as a professor at the Forum Musikae Conservatory in Madrid. His discography reflects both his classical roots and adventurous spirit, with notable recordings of Bach’s solo sonatas and partitas, Mozart and Mendelssohn concertos, Dvořák’s complete works for violin and orchestra, and duo albums with his brother Ivan. Whether on stage or in the studio, Mikhail’s playing is known for its clarity, nuance, and heartfelt connection with audiences everywhere.
