Sumo Cyco

Sumo Cyco is a high-energy, genre-blending rock band from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, fronted by the charismatic and powerhouse vocalist Skye “Sever” Sweetnam. Originally gaining fame as a pop artist in the early 2000s, Sweetnam reinvented herself with Sumo Cyco, merging heavy metal, punk, and ska influences with fearless visuals and a DIY ethos. The band is known for their explosive live shows, creative music videos, and their ability to fuse catchy hooks with aggressive riffs.

Formed in 2011, Sumo Cyco includes guitarist Matt “MD13” Drake and a rotating lineup of backing members. They’ve built a dedicated fanbase through relentless touring and high-octane releases like their 2021 album Initiation, which features standout tracks like “Bystander” and “Vertigo.” Their sound is often described as a mix of No Doubt, Skindred, and early Paramore, but with a wild, rebellious twist all their own.
