Nels Cline
Nels Cline is an American guitarist and composer known for his versatility across jazz, rock, and experimental music. Born in 1956, Cline has been a member of the alternative rock band Wilco since 2004, while also maintaining an active career in avant-garde jazz and improvised music. He leads several of his own projects, including The Nels Cline Singers (which, despite the name, does not actually include vocalists). Cline has been praised for his innovative guitar work, with Rolling Stone naming him one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. His style encompasses everything from delicate melodic playing to aggressive, noise-influenced experimentation.
