Stefan Schmidt

Stefan Schmidt is a renowned German organist and educator, born on April 16, 1966, in Düsseldorf. He pursued his studies in Catholic church music from 1986 to 1991 at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. Following his graduation, Schmidt worked as a Kantor at St. Peter in Düsseldorf and founded the chamber choir *Ars Cantandi*, which he led until 2005. He furthered his education with a concert exam in organ at the Musikhochschule des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken. Since 1994, Stefan Schmidt has taught organ and improvisation at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, where he was appointed an honorary professor in 2006. Additionally, he has served as the organist at Würzburg Cathedral since 2005. Stefan Schmidt is known for his diverse discography, which includes recordings of works by renowned composers such as César Franck and Maurice Duruflé, as well as his skillful improvisations.
