The Crimestoppers

The Crimestoppers are a long-standing rock and blues band from the Washington, D.C. area, originally formed in early 1981. The band began as a group of musicians with little equipment but a lot of passion, coalescing around founding member Dave Rinebolt (aka Dave "The Leg") and others like Louis Dvorak. Over the decades, they’ve grown into a versatile five to seven-piece ensemble that covers a wide range of influences including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, the Allman Brothers, and Jimi Hendrix. Known for high-energy live performances, they've played numerous local venues and festivals, often joined by guest musicians and vocalists like Liz Springer. Members include Ed O’Connell (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Eric Nelson (drums), Lenny Stamm (guitar), Danny Jones (vocals, guitar), and Kennedy Wright (bass), among others.

They originally went by "Dick Tracy and the Crimestoppers" before shortening the name, and have built a loyal regional following with their signature mix of rock and blues classics plus original tracks. In recent years, they have released new material including the album "On The Case" (2025), continuing their tradition of sharp, soulful music rooted in those classic rock and blues sounds. Their blend of covers and originals makes them a staple of the D.C. music scene with a reputation for keeping blues rock vibrant and engaging for nearly 45 years.
