Yana Mann is a Russian mezzo-soprano singer, songwriter, and producer originally from St. Petersburg. She began her music education very young, studying classical music and theater at prestigious institutions such as the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Academic Music College. Early in her career, she performed on renowned stages including the Mariinsky Theater and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic. Though classically trained, Yana has explored diverse musical styles, ranging from heavy metal to electronic music, reflecting her interest in blending genres and new musical architectures. Since moving to Dubai in 2014, she has continued expanding her artistic horizons through collaborations and genre-crossing projects.
Yana’s debut studio album, *Poemas de Bar* Op. 12, was released in 2021 through the Brooklyn-based independent label Irreverence Group Music and features compositions by minimalist composer Julián De La Chica. The album explores intimate, late-night conversations in a New York City bar, capturing themes of love, loss, and hope in a haunting, melancholic style. Her voice is noted for its pure, dark, and calm quality, eschewing operatic vibrato for clarity and emotional directness. She frequently performs contemporary classical and experimental works and has continued releasing new music projects, including song cycles with texts by Latin American poets, highlighting her global and genre-fluid approach to music.
