CHUDAHYE CHAGIS

CHUDAHYE CHAGIS is a vibrant four-member Korean psychedelic shamanic funk band led by Chu Dahye, a sorikkun (traditional Korean singer) known for her powerful voice that channels the spirit of Korean folk music. Their sound is a unique blend of ancient Muga — shamanic ritual songs and chants from regions like Pyeong’an, Hwanghae, and Jeju — combined with reggae, jazz, hip-hop, funk, dance, and rock influences. This fusion creates a genre-defying style that’s both deeply traditional and refreshingly modern. The band includes Lee Si-mun on guitar, Kim Jae-ho on bass, and Kim Da-vin on drums.

Debuting in 2020 with the album *Underneath the Dangsan Tree Tonight*, CHUDAHYE CHAGIS quickly gained acclaim, including winning Best R&B/Soul Song at the 18th Korean Music Awards in 2021. Their 2025 sophomore album *SOSUMINJOK* further established their innovative sound, incorporating untamed rhythms, improvisational energy, and cultural resistance, with the track “Heosse!” ranking high on Korean charts shortly after release. Beyond the music, Chu Dahye also brings a dynamic artistic presence to the stage, having been involved in various art forms and previously performing with the Asian fusion rock band SsingSsing.
