Ratt is an American heavy metal band that formed in San Diego, California, in 1977. Originating under the name Mickey Ratt, the group, led by vocalist Stephen Pearcy, solidified its classic lineup in the early 1980s with Warren DeMartini and Robbin Crosby on guitars, Juan Croucier on bass, and Bobby Blotzer on drums. They became prominent figures in the burgeoning Los Angeles glam metal scene and were known for their brash attitude, heavy riffs, and catchy hooks.
Their 1984 debut studio album "Out of the Cellar" exploded onto the music scene, largely due to the mega-hit "Round and Round," which became a staple on MTV and helped Ratt achieve multi-platinum success. The band's subsequent albums, such as "Invasion of Your Privacy" (1985), "Dancin' Undercover" (1986), and "Reach for the Sky" (1988), cemented their status as major rock heavyweights throughout the '80s. Ratt's success saw a decline in the early '90s with records like "Detonator" (1990) as grunge and alternative rock rose in popularity. Despite line-up changes and periods of hiatus, Ratt made a notable comeback with "Infestation" in 2010, a record that saw them return to their classic sound and showcased their enduring appeal in the hard rock and glam metal genre.
