Eranholi Moosa

Eranholi Moosa was a celebrated Mappilappattu artist and playback singer from Kerala, born on March 18, 1940. He was renowned for popularizing many Mappila songs, particularly "Manikya Malaraya Poovi," which gained widespread recognition after its inclusion in the Malayalam film *Oru Adaar Love*. Moosa began his singing career at the age of 14, performing extensively in wedding functions and later in Malayalam films. He was known for his unique voice and style, which captivated audiences globally. Over his career, Moosa performed in over 1,000 stage shows, including more than 300 in the Gulf countries, making him a legendary figure in Mappilappattu.

Moosa also ventured into acting, appearing in the 2003 Malayalam film *Gramaphone*. He was a strong advocate for young talent, often choosing to step back from awards to encourage budding singers. Eranholi Moosa served as the vice chairman of the Kerala Folklore Akademi at the time of his passing on May 9, 2019. His contributions to Malayalam music are profound, with many of his songs being part of academic studies and research on Kerala's musical heritage.
