ETA IVtet

ETA IVtet is a dynamic ensemble led by guitarist Jeff Parker, featuring saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, and drummer Jay Bellerose. The band originated from a weekly residency started by Parker in 2016 at the Los Angeles venue ETA, where they evolved over seven years from playing mostly standards to exploring long-form, groove-oriented, polyrhythmic, and minimalist improvised music. Known for their transcendent, extended performances—sometimes stretching 45 minutes or more—they became a staple of the LA nightlife scene, gradually drawing growing, enthusiastic crowds.

They've released notable albums such as *Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy* (2022) and *The Way Out of Easy* (2024), both recorded live at ETA and critically praised for their inventive, meditative, and improvisational sound. *The Way Out of Easy* showcases the band in full flow from a single night’s recording in 2023, highlighting their mastery of long, exploratory compositions rooted in jazz, psychedelic, and otherworldly sonic textures. Members of the group bring notable backgrounds, with Parker known for his work with Tortoise and Chicago Underground Quartet, Butterss playing with Jason Isbell and Phoebe Bridgers, Johnson collaborating with Meshell Ndegeocello and Leon Bridges, and Bellerose boasting an extensive sideman resume.
