Safiath, born Safia Aminami Issoufou Oumarou on April 15, 1982, in Khartoum, Sudan, is a talented Nigerien singer, rapper, and songwriter. She is of mixed heritage, with a Nigerien father and a Sudanese mother, and is ethnically Tuareg and Kanuri. Safiath began her musical journey while studying economics and banking in Morocco, where she joined a salsa band and learned to play the guitar. She later returned to Niger and became the lead singer of the rap group Kaidan Gaskiya. She has represented Niger in international musical events, such as the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie in Nice, and has collaborated with artists from other African countries. Safiath's music often addresses social issues, particularly children's rights, and she sings in multiple languages including French, Hausa, Zarma, and Tamasheq.
Safiath has released several singles, including "Je te suivrai," "Yan ouwa," "Yan gari," "Lost," and "Don't cry," showcasing her versatility in urban music. In 2018, she released the album "point final," which further highlighted her commitment to promoting Nigerien music. Safiath is married to rapper Phéno and has a child with him. She continues to advocate for a stronger connection to indigenous music in Niger, expressing concern about the influence of foreign styles on local music. Her music is characterized by themes of peace, love, and tolerance, and she has also been involved in supporting social causes, such as exclusive breastfeeding campaigns in Niger.
