Michel Tilkin is a Belgian conductor known for his intense and expressive interpretations on the podium. His career has spanned numerous collaborations with prominent ensembles, including the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, where he became the Music Director in 2018. Previously, he was the Chief Conductor of the Thüringen Philharmonie from 2013 to 2017. Tilkin's repertoire includes conducting notable works such as Tchaikovsky's symphonies and Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2. Before focusing on conducting, he was the Principal Trombonist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tilkin has also worked with various other orchestras, including the Rheinische Philharmonie, Nürnberger Symphoniker, and the Belgian National Orchestra. His passion for music began early, with him learning to play instruments like the trumpet, accordion, and organ during his youth. Additionally, he has been involved in diverse musical projects, including performances with the Flemish Opera and releases such as the première CD of the opera "Erotokritos and Areti."
