Nicolas Krüger is a French pianist and conductor known for his extensive work in both the operatic and symphonic fields. After completing his studies at the Paris Conservatory, he worked as chorus director for the Orchestre de Paris, collaborating with renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Lorin Maazel, and Christoph Eschenbach. He has since conducted at numerous opera houses across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including cities like Rouen, Antwerp, Prague, Bangkok, and Mexico City. In addition to his conducting career, Krüger has been a lecturer since 2005 at the Paris Conservatory and has served as principal conductor of the Leipziger Symphonieorchester during the 2018/19 season. Besides conducting, he also performs as a piano soloist and song accompanist at festivals.
Krüger is actively involved in education and currently teaches orchestral conducting at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons (ARTS²), where he guides students through the complexities of conducting, with an emphasis on opera and a wide repertoire from classical to contemporary music. His approach highlights the importance of musical gesture, score preparation, and rehearsal technique, aiming to develop musicianship alongside technical skills. He has also recorded CDs featuring works such as Offenbach’s symphonic music with the Leipziger Symphonieorchester, showcasing his vibrant interpretation and leadership.
