Russell Thompkins, Jr.

Russell Thompkins, Jr. is best known as the original lead singer of The Stylistics, one of the most iconic soul groups to emerge from the 1970s. With his smooth, soaring falsetto, Thompkins helped define the classic Philly soul sound on hits like "You Make Me Feel Brand New," "Betcha by Golly, Wow," and "You Are Everything." His voice became synonymous with the group's romantic ballads and elegant orchestrations, crafted by producers like Thom Bell.

After parting ways with The Stylistics in the early 2000s, Thompkins formed his own group, Russell Thompkins Jr. and the New Stylistics, continuing to tour and perform for devoted fans around the world. In recent years, he has released solo material that stays true to the lush, melodic style he's known for, showcasing that his voice—still heartfelt and instantly recognizable—remains as soulful as ever.
