Aleksander Nowak is a Polish composer born in 1979 in Gliwice. He began his musical education with piano and guitar lessons, later focusing on composition under the guidance of notable figures like Uliana Biłan and Aleksander Lasoń at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. He furthered his studies in the United States at the University of Louisville with Steve Rouse. Nowak's compositions span a wide range of genres, including instrumental, vocal-instrumental, and electronic music. He has written several operas and musical dramas, often collaborating with contemporary writers. His works have been performed both in Poland and abroad, and he has received numerous awards for his contributions to music.
Some of his notable works include the operas "Sudden Rain," "Space Opera," and "ahat-ilī – Sister of the Gods," as well as the dramas "Syrena. Melodrama aeterna" and "Pokora. Dramma giocoso." Nowak has been recognized with awards such as the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Award and the Coryphaeus of Polish Music Award. His compositions have also been awarded the Fryderyk award in the category of Opera and Oratorio Music. Nowak is a full member of the Polish Composers' Union and has served in various roles within the organization, including as the president of the Katowice branch.
